| How to keep your pets safe in the heat After 30 minutes, the temperature will reach 120 degrees. Limit exercise. Try to use the early mornings and evening hours to exercise your pet. Always carry water with you to keep the dog from hydrating. Don't use fans. Fans do not cool pets as effectively as they do people. Provide shade and water.
